Big Society

For all of the austerity and rhetoric of cuts, David Cameron wants to be remembered for his vision of a Big Society.

This has, of course, been derided for its lack of substance and opacity. Yet, one of the most intriguing features of this vision is its historical grounding and the failure of its historical precedents.
